How To Play Poker-What to do in the first weeks of playing poker online.

Posted by ramakazi on Mayam07 3. 2007

The commonest mistake in history is underestimating your opponent; it happens at the poker table all the time.

Welcome back for the Forth Lesson of How To Play Poker.

This lesson is continuing from the last including How To Play Poker-What to do in the first weeks of playing poker online.

Just play Play money tables, learn how people play different hands and join the occasional Freeroll.

Play your Money Like It’s Real.

When starting online as said before play Play money and treat the money you have like real money so you will develop what to play and what not to. It’s quite good mentally training. It’s also good to stay in a table for quite some time to see how certain people play certain hands. Learn when to  avoid or target with your hands by reading the opposing player.

I also want you to learn another the other ways of playing poker, Limit and pot-limit.

For the first 2 days play limit instead of no-limit as it’s quite a good starting game and it will come in use for the future. For the next 2 days play Pot-Limit as I said it will come in use for the future and is good to learn. So for the last 3 days just play no-limit until you’ve mastered it.

Week 2

Join every tournament you can. It’s definitely builds up your experience. Whether the tournaments are Sit and Go’s or Free rolls. Join them they are really fun and teaches you what to do when under lots of pressure.

If you want to as the more variety of poker games you play the better and more different thing you will learn. Also it’s good to play someone who doesn’t know how to play Hold ‘em you could teach him and also play that game.

I recommend Omaha, they have lots of those tournaments on and is really fun to learn another poker game.

The same rules apply to Omaha as in Hold ‘em but there’s a few differences.

*One is you have 4 cards in your hand instead of 2.

*You have to use 2 cards from your hand can’t get more and can’t get less.

*You Have to use 3 community cards can’t get more and can’t get less.

That pretty much wraps up lesson 4.

Next lesson I’ll be teaching you how to play good poker, how to play certain tournaments and learn how to add some tactics to your poker game.

Posted by ramakazi on Mayam07 3. 2007

Is it a reasonable thing, I ask you, for a grown man to run about and hit a ball?  Poker’s the only game fit for a grown man.  Then, your hand is against every man’s, and every man’s is against yours.  Teamwork?  Who ever made a fortune by teamwork?  There’s only one way to make a fortune, and that’s to down the fellow who’s up against you

Welcome to the Third lesson on How To Play Poker.

This lesson I’ll teach you where to poker online and how to play poker online.

I use this site all the time, it’s free, not too much people, User-Friendly and has free rolls. I recommend www.poker.com. When you go to it click on the download link and wait for it to download. Follow the downloading instructions and when it’s done it will have an ‘Install Poker.com’ desktop icon. Click it and follow those instructions. When they’ve done it should come up with a play poker.com icon. Click it and you’ll be on poker.com.

Now you’re in, you can test your skills and try win free money! BUT before you can you have to put in your email address, Postal address and other personal information (they won’t call you).

The email will contain a code just to verify your email address. go to the link, type it in and off you go. You will get a free 30 day coupon that lets you play the $50 New Players Freerolls that give out $15 for top position to play around with. Now it’s time to play some poker.

I reccommend that you play whenever possible.             Here’s some reasons why:

How To Play Poker-Hand Rankings and card rankings

Posted by ramakazi on Mayam07 3. 2007

”How long does it take to learn poker, Dad?”
“All your life, son.”

This Post on How To Learn Poker will teach you about the hands, what’s the best ones and continuing off from last time! Let’s get started on lesson 2 of How To Play Poker!

When the dealer has completed dealing out the cards on the board you make your best cards using only 5 cards. Both of none of the cards in your hand and the cards of the board (Community Cards).  Now to see what cards are the best and what cards are the worst.

The Best to Worst cards are:

A, K ,Q ,J ,10 ,9 ,8 ,7 ,6 ,5 ,4 ,3 ,2.

Now the different combo’s of these cards:

The Worst is a high card: e.g. A 8 5 3 K.

Then it goes to the basic pair: e.g. A 2 K Q Q.

Then the two pair: e.g. A A K K Q.

Then the 3 of a kind: e.g. 2 2 2 K 3.

Then the straight: e.g. 5 6 7 8 9 (This can go with the Ace acting as a 1 or as the highest) e.g. A 2 3 4 5 (but you can’t intersect the High’s and the Low’s) e.g. Q K A 2 3.               but you can go. A K Q J 10

Then the Flush: e.g. Heart, Heart, Heart, Heart, Heart. 5 cards all of the same suit (doesn’t need to be straight.)

Full House: e.g. A A A K K.

Four of a Kind: e.g. A A A A K.

Straight Flush: e.g. 4 5 6 7 8 all of spades.

The best hand in the game, The Straight Flush! A K Q J 10 all of the same suit.

The higher the pairs, 3 of a kind’s, Flushes, Straights, Full Houses, 4 of a Kind’s and Straight Flushes the better it is.

E.G. a pair of 10’s would beat a pair of 3’s. Also a 3 4 5 6 7 would be worse than a 6 7 8 9 10. With the flushes a flush with the cards: 7 8 9 10 K would be worse than a flush with A 2 4 5 6.

How To Play Poker-Introduction on how to play Texas Hold’em Poker.

Posted by ramakazi on Mayam07 3. 2007

The guy who invented poker was bright, but the guy who invented the chip was a genius

This is the first post from the blog: How To Play Poker.

Today I’ll be explaining where poker started and teach you the basics of How To Play Poker. When you’ve finished and read all my posts you’ll be able to play poker and make money online or at the local casino!

My favourite and poker game I play the most is Texas Hold ‘em. Basically at the beginning of every game you are delt 2 cards face down by the dealer. The deal button is passed around to the person to the left at the end of each ‘Hand’.   A hand is basically that turn of game play (a round).

At the beginning of every Hand the Small Blind and Big Blind have to put a given amount of money every turn (The BLIND).The Big Blind has to put in the BLIND and Small blind has to put in less (usually half). This is just to create a pot (Money in the Middle) and get the game moving so people won’t wait and only place when they have a good hand!

The person left to Big Blind is the first to act and can either call the big blinds amount (put same in), Raise (Put more in) or Fold (Throw away cards, Out of hand). This keeps going around until everyone has put the same amount as the highest bidder or Folded.

Once everyone has put their money in the dealer puts the top card to the side and places 3 cards face up. This is called ‘The Flop’, betting takes place. Then another card to the side and another card face up ‘The Turn’ betting takes place. Then yet another card to the side and another card face up and betting takes place. This is the last round and person with the best hand wins.

Certain words to remember:

All In- Putting all your money in, if someone doesn’t have that much people can match and they have a separate stack they can win and the other people with more money (who called) can bet and try win that pot and another (Larger usually) pot.

Call:Put the same amount money as the bidder. Raise:Put more money in than the bidder.                Fold:Don’t put the same amount of money in and can’t win the pot.

Pot:Amount of money in the middle, where Sub-Pot is what was covered in All-In.

In No-Limit: There is no limit to bid. Blind is minimum. Limit:The maximum you can bid is the blind.                       Pot limit:The maximum you can bid is all the pot’s added up.
